Grubbs, Hoskyn, Barton & Wyatt, Inc. Consulting Engineers was initially established as Grubbs Consulting Engineers, Inc. in 1964 and became the Little Rock Division of McClelland Engineers, Inc. in 1974. The management of the Little Rock Division formed Grubbs, Garner & Hoskyn, Inc. in early 1985 and purchased the Division in June, 1985. In late 1998, the firm name was changed to reflect current ownership. Grubbs, Hoskyn, Barton & Wyatt, Inc. has a staff of 70 Engineers, Laboratory Technicians, Materials and Engineering Technicians, Drillers and Support Personnel.
Solving foundation and earth structure problems, whether related to design or construction, is a specialized service provided by Grubbs, Hoskyn, Barton & Wyatt, Inc. This includes evaluating soil and rock properties, analyzing and predicting the behavior of earth materials, developing design and construction recommendations, making economic evaluations of alternate solutions, providing construction advice and consultation, installation of monitoring wells and piezometers and preparation of hydrogeologic studies. The activities of the firm can be divided into six (6) principal phases, which are:
- Engineering Analysis and Design;
- Geotechnical Investigations;
- Subsurface Exploration;
- Field and Laboratory Testing;
- Geoenvironmental Studies; and
- Engineering Services for Construction
The experience of the Staff of Grubbs, Hoskyn, Barton & Wyatt, Inc. spans more than four decades and includes geotechnical investigations for a large number of commercial, industrial and municipal facilities. Projects for which geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering services have been provided include: roadways, bridges, airports, low and high-rise structures in both consolidated and unconsolidated geological settings and in low risk and high risk earthquake zones; a large number of earthen dams and levees; landfills; and hazardous waste facilities. The Company has also performed numerous environmental site assessments, both Phase I and Phase II studies. Engineering consultation and materials testing for construction are a significant part of the services provided for clients.
Grubbs, Hoskyn, Barton & Wyatt, Inc. also owns and operates a fleet of exploration equipment capable of drilling, sampling and testing in a wide range of terrain and geologic environments. Complete soils and materials laboratory facilities are available from our offices in Little Rock and Springdale, Arkansas.
